Comment on post about article: This is an excellent article with some solid research to support it. I would suggest two other items to consider, which I have experienced over the last few years. Virtual worlds, such as Second Life, provide social reading for many; one gentleman provides a weekly forum for writers to bring their material for reading and comment, and the experience is highly entertaining. The other suggestion is that many local coffee shops offer similar experiences. To the point of your article, I am very much a proponent of using local libraries as a social center. Unfortunately, recent economic times and the emergence of electronic access to reading materials may have cast adrift the mission of many local libraries. Thanks for your good thoughts!
